SIA Connect: collects data from PLCs, stores it in a database, and sends it via OPC UA and MQTT to IT

Key features:

  • Wide compatibility: Supports 30+ industrial protocols, including platforms such as Siemens (S7, LOGO!), Mitsubishi, Allen-Bradley, Omron, Beckhoff ADS, Keyence, M-Bus, as well as standards like Modbus TCP/RTU, BACnet (for BMS/HVAC), and OPC UA.
  • No-code/low-code integration: Communication configuration and data flows are set up in an intuitive web interface. You can configure basic IT/OT integration in about ~5 minutes (depending on the number of points and protocols).
  • Bidirectional communication: You can not only collect data and send it to the cloud (e.g., Azure, AWS) or to databases, but also send values/parameters back (depending on the connector used).
  • Security and reliability: The device ensures secure data transfer using TLS encryption and certificate management (optionally also via DigiCert IoT Trust), and allows you to manage user access based on roles as well as by specific communication protocol.
  • Flexible deployment: You can choose between:
      • or a purely software version SIA Connect SW (ANY-Ware), which can be deployed on a PC/server or embedded device – natively on Linux (including Yocto) and in a virtual environment, or as a Docker container (on Windows and macOS via Docker only).

What Can You Use SIA Connect For?

The purpose of the SIA Connect is to create a bridge between machines/devices and higher-level systems. It is typically used for:

  • Data collection and archiving from PLCs, sensors, or robots (e.g., Universal Robots)
  • Data transfer to databases such as MS SQL, MySQL, InfluxDB, or PostgreSQL for subsequent analysis and visualization (e.g., in Grafana)
  • Connectivity to IIoT platforms and clouds for remote monitoring and as a data foundation for predictive maintenance
  • Connecting systems from different manufacturers—for example, communication between Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs (including protocol conversion / data unification via OPC UA)
