KEPServerEX: Last chance to save on discounted support purchases
Are you using a perpetual license of the KEPServerEX software to collect data from machines? Read our 3 recommendations in response to the changes to the Update & Technical Support (hereafter referred to as Technical Support) purchase terms for perpetual licenses that will take effect on January 1, 2025. We know that expert technical support and upgrades to new software versions are important. Take advantage of the opportunity to purchase Technical Support at a volume discount before the end of the year or to convert your perpetual license to a subscription (Subscription Conversion) under unique conditions. The Subscription Conversion license already includes Technical Support.
Like many software companies, PTC is shifting its focus toward subscription licenses for its KEPServerEX software, moving away from perpetual licenses. As part of this transition, PTC has updated its pricing policy for Technical Support on perpetual licenses and introduced an attractive incentive offer for customers. Are you one of them?
Until December 31, 2024 only, you have the following options for perpetual licenses:
- Purchase Technical Support for the next 5 years at a 20% volume discount
- Renew Technical Support (Recapture) after a lapse in payment of more than 12 months
From January 1, 2025:
- Purchase of Technical Support will be available only for a maximum of 3 years in advance and without any volume discount, only with the option to lock in the current price for up to 3 years.
- It will no longer be possible to renew Technical Support (Recapture) if you have not been paying for it for more than 12 months.
Not sure which type of license you have? Log in to your my.kepware.com account and enter your License ID under License Information. The system will return complete information about your license. In the Product Description section, you will find the name and type of your license (e.g. Manufacturing Suite - Perpetual).
What Do We Recommend? Choose the Option That Works Best for You
Purchase Technical Support for up to 5 years at a volume discount
If you would like to continue using the program as a standard perpetual license, paying for Technical Support on a regular basis, this is of course possible. In this case, we recommend that you purchase support for 2 to 5 years in advance by December 31, 2024, at a volume discount of 5–20% depending on the number of years you purchase. Invoicing is done in a single payment at the time of ordering, based on the period selected (2-5 years). As mentioned above, the volume discount will be discontinued from January 1, 2025, which means that from January 1, 2025 you will only be able to lock in the current Technical Support price for a maximum of 3 years in advance.
Renew Technical Support even if you have not been paying for more than the last 12 months
The option to renew Technical Support for customers who have not been paying for Technical Support for more than one year will only be available until December 31, 2024. From January 1, 2025, you will no longer be able to renew it, but will only be able to purchase a new perpetual license or a subscription license (at the favorable terms described above).
If you have not been paying for Technical Support for less than 12 months, you can renew and extend it even after December 31, 2024. You will be charged for the months you have not paid for support plus the following 12 months. (Example: You stopped paying for support 2 months ago. You will be charged for 2 months + the following 12 months).
Convert to a subscription license (Subscription Conversion) at very favorable terms
PTC is now offering a discounted perpetual-to-subscription conversion price only to existing perpetual license customers. You can purchase a subscription license for only 25% of the perpetual license price for the entire duration of your subscription. The subscription license includes both the license itself and full Technical Support. Software updates and Technical Support will always be automatically available to you.
You lock in the price level at the favorable 25% of the perpetual license price, compared to the 40% at which customers purchase standard subscription licenses. Billing is done annually on the anniversary date of signing the subscription license contract.
Why Is KEPServerEX Update & Technical Support So Important?
Our customers appreciate Technical Support especially when they have technical problems with the software or the server/computer running the software with the software key is damaged. The Technical Support Team help the customer to transfer such a license to another computer. Without their help, the customer would lose their license.
Another advantage is the possibility of upgrading the purchased version to newer versions with:
- Higher stability
- Bug fixes
- Drivers for new devices on the market and new driver packages
