A rugged AC/DC UPS where a standard control cabinet is not enough
The Bicker UPSI-2406R2IP-38AC is a complete backup power supply for 24 VDC-powered equipment. Unlike standard DIN-rail DC UPS systems, it also contains an AC/DC converter, so it connects directly to a 100–240 VAC mains supply and powers the protected 24 VDC load at its output.
The rugged IP65 aluminium design is intended for indoor and outdoor installations, mobile equipment and industrial applications exposed to dust, water, ice, oil or temperature fluctuations. The UPS is suitable for control modules, embedded IPCs, drives, actuators, sensors, measuring and safety equipment, communication systems and outdoor infrastructure.

The 100–240 VAC input and 144 W output power eliminate the need for a separate 24 V power supply upstream of the UPS. The output provides up to 6 A continuously.
The sealed aluminium enclosure protects the electronics and battery against dust and water jets. It is suitable for outdoor and demanding industrial operation.
The high-capacity integrated battery provides approximately 1 h 50 min of backup time at a full 6 A load and +25 °C.

For cameras, sensors and outdoor infrastructure
The UPSI-2406R2IP-38AC is suitable for equipment installed outside a control cabinet, such as outdoor cameras, weather and environmental stations, communication points, lighting, security systems or control equipment on poles.
The UPS must be mounted vertically on a solid wall or another stable surface for operation across its full specified power range. An optional mounting kit is available for pole installation.

IP65, rugged cables and local controls
The rugged design with IP65 protection in accordance with EN 60529 protects the device against dust and water jets. A pressure-equalisation element with a membrane helps limit condensation inside the enclosure. The permanently installed cables are resistant to UV radiation, weather exposure and low temperatures.
The current UPS operating status is indicated by an LED on the connection side of the device. The integrated button is used to switch the UPS on and off and to activate the Battery Start function.
Continuous 24 VDC power in the event of a mains failure
In the event of an AC input voltage failure or drop, the UPS automatically switches to backup mode. The integrated battery then powers the connected load, and transfer from normal mode to backup mode takes less than 1 ms.
In backup mode, the output voltage is regulated to approximately 23.5 VDC. The powered equipment is therefore not dependent on the gradual voltage drop of the battery. When mains voltage returns, the UPS automatically returns to normal mode and continues charging.
Temporarily increases available power up to 192 W. The maximum overload time is up to 58 s and depends on the actual output power and previous UPS load.
In backup mode, the UPS maintains approximately 23.5 VDC. Connected equipment is therefore not dependent on the gradual voltage drop of the discharging battery.
The UPS protects both the load and itself against overcurrent and short circuits. The AC/DC converter has separate overtemperature protection.
330 Wh LiFePO₄ battery for long-term backup power
The integrated LiFePO₄ battery pack with a capacity of 25 Ah / 330 Wh combines stable chemistry, high cycle resistance and long service life. The Battery Management System monitors safe battery operation, while Cell Balancing supports even charging of the cells.
The 330 Wh capacity provides substantially longer backup time than small UPS modules intended only for controlled shutdown. Actual backup time always depends on load power, ambient temperature and battery condition.

Backup-time curve by output power
The manufacturer specifies backup time for different output-current and power values. The graph helps verify whether the UPS will keep a particular device operating for long enough during a mains failure—the lower the consumption of the 24 VDC load, the longer the 330 Wh battery will last.
At a full load of 24 VDC / 6 A, the approximate backup time is 1 h 50 min at +25 °C. At lower power levels, the available time increases significantly and can reach tens of hours for small loads.

Practical features for reliable operation
The UPSI-2406R2IP-38AC is not merely a battery for bridging an outage. It combines an AC/DC converter, backup management and LiFePO₄ energy storage in a rugged IP65 enclosure. It helps protect 24 VDC equipment during a mains failure and ensures a controlled return to normal operation.
With a state of charge of at least 10 %, the Battery Start function enables the 24 VDC output to be switched on from the battery without an AC input connected. This is useful, for example, when restoring equipment after downtime or during field service.
The UPS monitors the state of the integrated LiFePO₄ energy storage and disconnects the output when the protection threshold is reached. This prevents the battery from being unnecessarily exposed to deep discharge during a long outage.
After mains voltage is restored, the UPS automatically ends backup mode, powers the load again from the AC/DC converter and starts recharging the integrated battery.
Operation even at low temperatures
The UPSI-2406R2IP-38AC operates from −20 to +50 °C, including charging and discharging. When battery temperature falls below +5 °C, the integrated heater is activated. The battery is heated to approximately +15 °C; the LiFePO₄ battery does not charge below 0 °C. Charging time may therefore increase in the range from −20 to 0 °C.

The UPSI-2406R2IP-38AC is a rugged industrial AC/DC UPS backup power supply for 24 VDC-powered equipment. It has an integrated AC/DC converter for direct connection to a 100–240 VAC mains supply, a 330 Wh LiFePO4 battery and IP65 protection for outdoor and demanding industrial environments.
How does an AC/DC UPS work in an industrial application?
The UPS connects directly to a 100–240 VAC mains supply and powers 24 VDC equipment at its output. In normal mode, it supplies the load from the integrated AC/DC converter while simultaneously charging the battery. In the event of a mains-voltage failure or drop, it automatically switches to backup mode and the integrated LiFePO4 battery supplies the energy.
Is a separate 24 V power supply required upstream of the UPS?
No. The UPSI-2406R2IP-38AC is a complete AC/DC UPS with an integrated mains power supply. It connects directly to 100–240 VAC and provides a 24 VDC / 6 A output.
What is the difference between UPSI-2406R2IP-38AC and UPSI-2406R2DP3MB?
The UPSI-2406R2DP3MB is a DIN-rail DC UPS module. It requires an external 24 VDC power supply, has IP20 protection and a smaller 33 Wh battery.
The UPSI-2406R2IP-38AC also contains an AC/DC converter for power directly from the mains, has a rugged IP65 aluminium enclosure and a 330 Wh LiFePO4 battery. It is therefore designed especially for outdoor infrastructure, installations outside a control cabinet, and environments with dust, water or large temperature changes.
What is the output voltage during a mains failure?
In normal mode, the output voltage is 24 VDC. In backup mode, the UPS provides a regulated output voltage of approximately 23.5 VDC so that connected equipment is not dependent on the gradual voltage drop of the battery.
How quickly does the UPS switch during a power failure?
The transfer from normal mode to backup mode takes less than 1 ms. This makes it possible to bridge a short outage or mains-voltage drop without interrupting the power supply to the 24 VDC load.
Battery and backup time
How long can the UPS power equipment?
Backup time depends primarily on the actual power consumption of the connected 24 VDC load, ambient temperature and battery condition. At a full load of 24 VDC / 6 A, the manufacturer specifies an approximate backup time of 1 h 50 min at +25 °C.
With lower consumption, backup time increases significantly; with small loads, it can reach tens of hours.
What is the battery capacity and type?
The UPS contains an integrated LiFePO4 battery with a capacity of 25 Ah / 330 Wh. The battery is managed by an integrated BMS and the Cell Balancing function, which supports even charging of individual cells.
How long does battery charging take?
Under normal conditions and at an ambient temperature of +25 °C, full charging takes approximately 6 to 7 h. Charging time may be longer at low temperatures or when the UPS is simultaneously powering a load.
What is the Battery Start function?
Battery Start allows the 24 VDC UPS output to be switched on directly from the battery even when no mains supply is connected. The function can be used with a battery state of charge of at least 10 % and for output current up to 6 A.
What happens when the battery is completely discharged?
The UPS protects the LiFePO4 battery against deep discharge and disconnects the output when the protection threshold is reached. If the battery is fully discharged, the manufacturer recommends reconnecting the UPS to the mains and recharging the battery within two weeks at the latest.
Ruggedness, temperature and installation
Is the UPS suitable for outdoor environments?
Yes. The UPS has an aluminium enclosure with IP65 protection, an operating range of −20 to +50 °C and permanently installed weather-resistant cables. It is suitable, for example, for cameras, sensors, weather stations, communication points, security equipment or control systems on poles.
What does IP65 protection mean?
IP65 protection means complete protection against dust ingress and protection against water jets from all directions. However, it does not mean that the device can be immersed in water or installed in a location where it will remain under water for an extended period.
How does the UPS respond to low temperatures?
The UPS operates from −20 to +50 °C. At temperatures below +5 °C, it activates heating of the battery module. Below 0 °C, the LiFePO4 battery is not charged until it has warmed to a permissible temperature. After a winter outage, restoring a full charge may therefore take longer than at room temperature.
What does power derating at higher temperatures mean?
At high ambient temperatures, it may be necessary to reduce the maximum continuous UPS load. This protects the power electronics and battery against overheating. It is especially important with continuous consumption close to 6 A in an outdoor enclosure, in direct sunlight or in a hot operating environment.
How is the UPS mounted?
For full specified power, the UPS is mounted vertically on a solid wall or another stable surface. The manufacturer also offers an optional mounting kit for pole installation.
Which cables are included with the UPS?
The UPS has a permanently installed approximately 3 m AC input cable, 3 × 1.5 mm² including protective earth PE, and an approximately 3 m DC output cable, 2 × 1.5 mm². Both cables have open ends for connection in the installation.
Power and protection functions
What power can the UPS deliver continuously?
The rated output current is 6 A and rated power is 144 W. When designing the system, we recommend verifying not only the equipment’s continuous power consumption, but also its short-term inrush peaks and ambient conditions.
What is Dynamic Power Boost?
Dynamic Power Boost allows the UPS to deliver up to 192 W for a short time, for no longer than 58 s. It helps, for example, during an inrush peak of connected equipment, but does not represent additional continuous power.
How does the UPS protect itself and the connected load?
The UPS has overcurrent and short-circuit protection on the 24 VDC output, AC/DC converter overtemperature protection, and battery deep-discharge protection. A pressure-equalisation element with a membrane additionally limits condensation formation inside the enclosure.
For which applications is the UPSI-2406R2IP-38AC suitable?
The UPS is suitable for outdoor cameras, communication equipment, sensors, weather and environmental stations, security systems, lighting, control equipment and other 24 VDC applications installed outside a conventional control cabinet or in demanding industrial environments.
