OPC Router is a software program that allows you to connect data from various industrial devices and IT/OT systems to each other. All this quickly, automatically and without programming knowledge. In addition, you can see all data flows in a clear visualization.
Collect data, connect systems, perform calculations, compare values and enter results into databases. You can do all this with OPC Router for PLC systems, OPC servers, printers, RFID readers, emails, Excel spreadsheets, databases, cloud systems, MQTT brokers, ERP systems SAP R3, SAP HANA, etc. For installation on a single computer you need a basic module and one or more plug-in modules.
Database Suite - OPC Router plug-in
The OPC Router Database Plug-In Suite contains communication interfaces for the most popular databases:
- MS SQL
- Oracle DB
- MySQL
- Codebase/Foxpro
- MS Access

- OLE DB
With the OPC Router and the Database Suite, you can integrate various databases into the modern Industry 4.0 infrastructure, enabling systems and devices in this infrastructure to access the databases and read and write data from/to them.
Microsoft SQL Server Plug-In
Microsoft SQL Server is one of the most common SQL servers in the industrial environment. In the modern Industry 4.0 production, databases form the heart of networked production. All relevant production data is stored in them and made available to other systems.
With OPC Router's MS SQL Server plug-in, you can easily connect to a MS SQL Server and access its tables, views and procedures.
Oracle DB Client Plug-In
The Oracle database is a top-performing database for manifold business applications. The OPC Router enables you to connect to it, using the Oracle Client driver and TNS. Interlinking your Oracle database with other systems in your enterprise architecture (EA) opens up many data usage and data development opportunities for better organisation of information, data and data flows toward a successful implementation of Industry 4.0 for your entire business.
ODBC Database Plug-In
Although older, the ODBC standard represents a very reliable interface for connecting databases to various other systems. The OPC Router with the ODBC DB plug-in installed enables you to connect to any database with the ODBC driver installed.
MySQL DB Plug-In
The MySQL database is a widely used open-source database. The OPC Router supports it up to version 8.
Microsoft Access Plug-In
Access is a small but useful Microsoft database. It is used in office settings as well as for smaller system setups. More demanding applications are not suitable for Access because of lack of multiple user profiles and a limited performance scope.
Codebase/FoxPro Plug-In
Codebase is a program library with a relational database system in a single- or multi-user file. Codebase is binary compatible with FoxPro.
OLE DB Plug-In
The OLE DB is a set of COM-based interfaces. The OLE DB interfaces allow various applications to access data stored in different data sources.
System requirements
Computer performance
OPC Router is a server application and needs to run on suitably equipped hardware. We recommend using at least the following components:
- Multi-core processor,
- at least 4 GB RAM,
- hard disk space (with RAID 5 technology).
Operating system
We recommend using Microsoft Windows Server operating systems (see below). Client operating systems (64-bit) can also be used for testing purposes.

Available OPC servers
OPC servers in OPC Router are used to connect control systems and other devices over OPC UA, OPC DA 4.0, or OPC XML.
To connect an OPC server, you must purchase a Module OPC license.
Available database servers
Database servers must be installed separately and are not part of the OPC Router installation. The OPC Router supports the following database systems:
- MS SQL
- Oracle
- MySQL
- MS Access
- XMLdatabases accessible by ODBC
Plug-ins for connecting database systems are not part of the Basic license, but you need to purchase the appropriate plug-in separately.
SAP-Plug in
The SAP Plug-in supports SAP systems version 4.0b and higher. For functionality, you need to have the so-called
SAP Log-on pad installed on the server where the OPC Router is running.
The SAP Plug-in is licensed and is not part of the Basic license.
New features in the OPC Router 5.1 data hub
The new version of OPC Router 5 brings some big changes. The biggest change is the user interface, which brings the user more comfort when working with the program and the ability to work in Linux, macOS, etc. There are also new options for creating user accounts, improvements in application performance optimization and many other improvements.
