OPC Router is a modular system consisting of the Basic module and optional plug-in modules. The Basic module is always required, while the plug-in modules are selected according to the systems you need to connect – for example OPC UA, databases, MQTT, REST, SAP, Excel or other IT/OT interfaces. For a typical connection between two external systems, two plug-ins are usually required: one for reading or receiving data from the source system and another for writing or sending data to the target system.
OPC Router is available as an annual subscription or as a perpetual license. With the annual subscription, updates and support are included in the license price. With the perpetual license, the first year of updates and support is included in the purchase; additional years can be extended later.

Licensing and Support for OPC Router
Annual Rental - Subscription License
- OPC Router can be rented as a service for at least one year.
- The rental includes complete technical support and access to all updates that come out during the subscription period. Therefore, we recommend this method.
- The initial price is 70 % less compared to a one-time software purchase.
- You choose only the drivers or plug-ins you will use, so you don't pay for any features unnecessarily. You are free to purchase them anytime in the future.
One-time purchase - Perpetual License
- Another option is to pay for the software once. This historically older licensing method requires a much larger initial investment.
- If you want new updates and technical support, you won't avoid annual fees anyway because the price includes updates and support for the first year only.
- Update & Support (Support Renewal) is recommended to be renewed periodically before expiration. Only with valid support can our technicians help you immediately in case of problems.
Update & Support
When purchasing OPC Router under the Perpetual License model, the Update & Support service is included in your license for the first year after purchase.

Why choose the Annual Subscription License or extend Update & Support for multiple years?
By purchasing a multi-year license, you eliminate the need for annual renewals and ensure that you are not affected by yearly price increases.
System Requirements
Installation and Update
The OPC Router setup installs the configuration environment, Windows services and all plug-ins in demo mode with a runtime of 2 hours. Licensed plug-ins can only be run without time limitation after entering the license key.
The installation does not include a database system or an OPC server for production use. These components must be installed separately and then connected in the OPC Router configuration.
Computer Performance
OPC Router is a server application, so we recommend running it on suitable hardware. For standard use, we recommend:
- a multi-core processor,
- at least 8 GB RAM,
- SSD storage.
Operating System
For production use, we recommend Microsoft Windows Server operating systems. 64-bit client operating systems can also be used, especially for testing purposes.
Supported operating systems:
- Windows Server 2016 x64
- Windows Server 2019 x64
- Windows Server 2022 x64
- Windows Server 2025 x64
- Windows 10 x64
- Windows 10 IoT x64
- Windows 11 x64
Running in Docker
OPC Router can also be run in a Docker container, for example on an Edge device or a Windows device. The minimum requirements for running OPC Router in a Docker container are:
- 64-bit single-core 600 MHz CPU with AVX support,
- 512 MB RAM,
- 3 GB of free disk space.
.NET 8
OPC Router requires .NET 8. If it is not installed on the system, the OPC Router setup will install it if necessary.
In production environments, we recommend installing .NET 8 manually from Microsoft before updating OPC Router. The .NET installation may require Windows updates, take longer to complete and sometimes require several restarts. To reduce downtime, we recommend uninstalling older .NET versions only after .NET 8 has been installed successfully.
OPC Server
To connect controllers via OPC, an installed and accessible OPC server must be available. OPC Router supports connections via OPC DA 4.0, OPC UA and OPC XML.
The corresponding OPC plug-in is required for communication with an OPC server.
Database Server and Data Sources
Database servers are not part of the OPC Router installation. If you want to connect them to OPC Router, they must be installed and made accessible separately.
OPC Router supports connections to the following database systems and interfaces:
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Oracle
- MySQL
- SAP HANA
- OLE DB
- systems accessible via ODBC
The following databases, data sources or files can also be connected:
- MS Access
- SQLite
- dBase
- InfluxDB
- MongoDB
- XML files
Plug-ins for database communication are not included in the Basic license. The appropriate plug-in must be selected for the specific type of database connection.
Oracle Database Connection
To connect to an Oracle database, Oracle Instant Client (ODAC) must be installed.
SAP Plug-in
The SAP Plug-in supports SAP systems version 4.0b and higher. SAP Logon Pad or the librfc32.dll library must be installed on the computer running OPC Router.
To use SAP NetWeaver, SAP NetWeaver RFC SDK must be installed.
The SAP Plug-in is a separately licensed module and is not included in the Basic license.
