The W&T USB Server Gigabit 2.0 53663 makes USB devices accessible via 100/1000 Mbit/s Ethernet. The two USB 2.0 ports can be used, for example, for cameras, audio devices, storage devices or measuring instruments connected via USB Redirector to Windows or Linux.

Usage
You can use this device where USB peripherals need to be out of reach of a standard USB cable, in remote set-ups or when connected to a virtual machine. Gigabit Ethernet offers a more suitable network connection for data-intensive applications than the Megabit model.

Communication and functions
- It supports the USB Control, Bulk, Interrupt and Isochronous modes. Up to eight devices can be connected using an external USB hub.
- Two computers can use different USB ports at the same time. A single USB peripheral is assigned to one computer at any given time.
- The USB Redirector enables automatic connection without user login and can be controlled via scripts. It supports routed networks and DNS.
- The current model offers device and user authorisation, WireGuard VPN (as either a client or server), TLS/HTTPS and a firewall. For older models, please check availability based on the firmware version.
- The physical ports on model 53663 are USB 2.0. General support for newer standards in the USB Redirector software does not alter the speed or design of this model’s ports.
Commissioning and accessories
Connect the Ethernet and PoE or 24–48 V DC power supply, set the IP address and install the USB Redirector for your operating system. Keep the drivers for the specific peripheral on your computer. Suitability for a camera or audio also depends on the data rate, network latency and application requirements.

Does my device have USB 3.0 ports?
No. Model 53663 has two physical USB 2.0 ports with speeds of 1.5 / 12 / 480 Mbit/s. ‘Gigabit’ refers to the Ethernet side.
Can USB peripherals be used in a virtual machine?
Yes, USB Redirector is also designed to connect networked USB devices to virtual environments. You will need to select the version compatible with your operating system.
Will the USB Server replace the camera or meter driver?
No. It facilitates a USB connection over the network. The driver and application software for the specific peripheral must be available on the target system.
