3x VIDEO: NODKA UPS Supercapacitor in the Main Role During a Power Failure

Power failures are a problem in industrial environments. Sudden system shutdowns can lead to data loss, file corruption or even equipment failure. That's where the NODKA UPS Supercapacitor comes in. How long can the Supercapacitor keep a computer running and how does it control the shutdown of the computer in the event of a power failure?
The UPS Supercapacitor will keep your computer running for some time after a power failure. This allows for safe data storage and controlled shutdown without damaging any software or hardware.
How long will the UPS Supercapacitor keep your computer running?
We connected the Supercapacitor to 3 different types of the NODKA industrial computer and observed how long it kept the computers running. In this video, you can see these computers:
How do you set up a safe computer shutdown using a SW application?
In this video, you will see the following:
- Setting up a script in the Supercapacitor's control software to shut down a computer safely
- Setting a battery threshold at which a computer will shut down
- A practical demonstration of shutting down a computer according to the values set
The default threshold setting of 90% ensures that the Supercapacitor has enough time to shut down the connected computer in a controlled manner, even if several demanding applications are running during the outage. We therefore recommend that you leave the setting at 90%.
What does the supply voltage curve from the Supercapacitor look like in case of an outage?
We connected the following to an oscilloscope set up to record events:
- The Supercapacitor's input power supply
- and its output power supply
We measured the voltage levels before and after the power supply was switched off. There was only a slight voltage dip. The Supercapacitor then started to supply the industrial computer with the required voltage for the time needed to shut it down safely. See for yourself how the UPS Supercapacitor provided stable power to the computer during the outage.
Why choose the NODKA UPS Supercapacitor?
Voltage fluctuations and short-term power outages are likely to become an increasingly common problem. The Nodka UPS Supercapacitor acts as a protective element to help mitigate the effects of these fluctuations and ensure that your system continues to operate reliably even in unstable power environments. It can be mounted on a DIN rail.
The UPS Supercapacitor has several advantages over batteries:
- Fast charging (and discharging)
- A longer life
- A wider operating temperature range
- More environmentally friendly production and disposal
