Training on data collection and integration from machines using OPC, MQTT, and the Kepware KEPServerEX and OPC Router software, 2 days-KOPIE
A 2-day course focused on the basics of working with Siemens SIMATIC S7-300 PLCs and the STEP 7 Basic programming environment. Participants will learn the fundamental principles of working with CPUs and modules (installation, correct configuration, etc.), program navigation (program structure, data backup, diagnostics), and practical demonstrations of PLC connections. The training combines theory with numerous hands-on exercises focused on wiring, configuration, and working with the S7-300 CPU. The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 6 from one company; for open courses, only 3–4 participants are trained at the same time. Duration: 2 days. Location: FOXON, Liberec. More

What You’ll Learn
- Principles of modern data collection in manufacturing and Industry 4.0 trends, including the Unified NameSpace (UNS) concept
- How to collect data from PLCs, CNC machines, robots, sensors, and measurement systems
- How to work with data using KEPServerEX and OPC Router
- How to store production data in databases and integrate them with higher-level systems
- How to analyze and visualize data in Power BI
- How to use the most common industrial communication protocols – OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus TCP, Siemens S7, REST, etc.
- How to handle diagnostics, redundancy, and security of communication links
Training Structure
On the first day, we’ll focus on the theory and principles of data collection, immediately demonstrated with practical examples.
On the second day, we’ll dive into hands-on configuration of both tools – each participant will work on a computer and connect to real industrial devices.
You’ll learn how to establish communication with PLCs, energy analyzers, and OPC UA devices, configure database archiving, route data to higher-level systems, and test everything using diagnostic tools.
What You’ll Take Away
After completing the training, you will be able to:
- design and implement optimal configurations in KEPServerEX and OPC Router,
- collect and archive data from various industrial devices,
- connect OT systems with IT infrastructure,
- analyze data and create basic reports in Power BI,
- use built-in tools for diagnostics and troubleshooting.
Who Should Attend
This training is intended for:
- System integrators,
- Electronics and application engineers,
- IT specialists,
- Automation designers,
- Maintenance and production technicians who deal with data collection from machines and PLC systems and their integration with MES/ERP systems.
After completing the course, you’ll understand how to design a data collection architecture and which key questions to ask before starting a digitalization project.
