Three galvanically isolated serial ports via Ethernet
The W&T Com-Server PoE 3x Isolated 58662 connects three serial devices to a 10/100BaseT Ethernet network. Each port can be configured for RS232, RS422 or RS485. The serial ports are galvanically isolated from one another and from the power supply.

Usage
It is used for the network connection of multiple serial devices, meters and other equipment. It supports virtual COM ports in Windows, communication via TCP/UDP and Box-to-Box connections between Com-Servers.

Serial modes and network communication
- Each serial port has a DB9 connector and a baud rate of 50 to 230,400 Bd. The interface type and transmission parameters are selected according to the connected device.
- Supported services include a virtual COM port, TCP/UDP, Box-to-Box, a Modbus TCP gateway for Modbus RTU slaves, FTP, Telnet, SLIP and Wake-on-LAN.
- The current version also supports a virtual COM port and a TCP server with optional TLS-PSK and encrypted Box-to-Box. Please check the firmware to verify the availability of these features on your existing unit.
- The network interface has an isolation rating of at least 1500 V. The 1 kV isolation of the serial ports applies to both their mutual isolation and their isolation from the power supply.
Commissioning and accessories
Set the IP address using WuTility or DHCP. For each port, select the electrical interface, wiring configuration, baud rate and flow control. For virtual COM ports, install the appropriate W&T COM Port Redirector.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are there really three independent serial ports here?
Yes. Unlike the model with a single switchable port, the 58662 model provides three serial ports. Each can be configured as RS232, RS422 or RS485.
What does the term ‘Isolated’ mean?
The serial ports are galvanically isolated from one another and from the power supply, with a specified insulation rating of 1 kV. The network interface has a separately specified isolation rating of at least 1500 V.
Is a matching DB9 connector sufficient for connecting the device?
No. The electrical interface, pin configuration, protocol and timing requirements of the specific application must also be met.
