Opal Ethernet switches are modern light industrial DIN mount unmanaged switches. Opal20 contains 16x 10/100Base-T(X) RJ45 ports. Different specifications are also available (upon request). The switch features a metal housing with IP30 seal rating. In our online Store, the default Opal20 option that we offer is the standard operating temperature range model, which is designed for the range of -10° C to 60° C. Opal20 supports redundant power input – 12–48 VDC / 18–30 VAC.

Opal is ideal for deployment in control cabinets

This unmanaged switch is ideal for deployment in the type of industrial automation that does not require any setup or functions of smart, managed switches, but still puts emphasis on industrial durability and high reliability. One of the applications of this switch is in control cabinets, where it is connected to all Ethernet stations in the cabinet or all the Ethernet stations belonging to a particular production line. The main advantages of this switch also include very small dimensions and a rugged IP30 metal housing, which features a clip for DIN rail mounting or accessories for panel mounting. Depending on application, Opal20 is available in two operating temperature ranges –  -10° C to +60° C (less harsh environments) and -40°C to +75°C (harsher environments). The default option that we offer in our online Store is the -10° C to +60° C model.

If one of the Opal's power inputs fails, the other one takes over and thus ensures uninterrupted operation and data transfer. A power input failure is signalled via LED diodes on the front of the switch. Finally, Opal supports overvoltage protection and reverse protection.

Broadcast storm protection

On the switch, you will find two DIP switches, whose default position is the OFF position. DIP switch 1 is for Broadcast storm protection, while DIP switch 2 is reserved for future use by the manufacturer.
