Wireless PROFIBUS 869 MHz – DATAEAGLE 3333A
Long-range wireless PROFIBUS transmission
Wireless PROFIBUS at 869 MHz
DATAEAGLE 3333A transmits PROFIBUS DP communication wirelessly over long distances. It is suitable for large industrial sites, outdoor technologies, cranes, water-management applications and locations where installing or regularly maintaining a data cable would be too demanding.
- 869 MHz radio band
- Range up to 300 m indoors
- Outdoor range approximately 1–3 km
- Compact IP20 or X-TREME IP65
- Plug & Play PROFIBUS retrofit

How do you select the correct DATAEAGLE 3333A system for 869 MHz?
Choose the version according to the installation location
DATAEAGLE 3333A Compact
A slim version for DIN-rail mounting inside a control cabinet. PROFIBUS is connected through a standard 9-pin D-sub connector and the antenna through an SMA connector.
- 11142: Compact transmitter,
- 11143: Compact receiver,
- 24 V DC power supply through a terminal block,
- IP20 protection and DIN-rail mounting,
- module width only 22.5 mm.
DATAEAGLE 3333A X-TREME
A robust metal version for installation directly on the machine, supporting structure or in an outdoor industrial environment. Power and PROFIBUS are connected through industrial M12 connectors.
- 11370: X-TREME transmitter,
- 11371: X-TREME receiver,
- 24 V DC power through an A-coded M12 connector,
- PROFIBUS through B-coded M12 connectors,
- IP65 protection for demanding environments.
The main radio unit in the system. It is usually installed on the fixed part of the equipment or near the main section of the PROFIBUS network.
A remote radio unit installed on a moving or isolated section of the equipment. The terms transmitter and receiver describe the roles within the radio system.
One transmitter–receiver pair replaces one long or mechanically stressed cable connection. This is the simplest and most transparent configuration.
One transmitter communicates with several remote sections of the equipment. All connected units must be powered correctly and the design must respect the required response time of the complete network.
Main DATAEAGLE 3333A features
Important: all units must remain powered
For fast and stable response in a multipoint system, all DATAEAGLE units must remain continuously powered.
When a machine or process section is switched off regularly, we recommend placing it in a separate wireless system. This prevents one powered-down section from affecting communication with the other units.
DATAEAGLE 3333A at 869 MHz is not intended for PROFIsafe transmission. For safety communication, use a suitable DATAEAGLE 373x version at 2.4 GHz and verify the safety timing of the application in advance. View the 2.4 GHz solution
Where is DATAEAGLE 3333A most often used?
Each transmitter and receiver requires its own antenna. An omnidirectional or directional antenna may be suitable depending on distance, equipment movement, line of sight, cabinet positions and surrounding obstacles. Antenna-cable length and correct antenna polarisation are also important.
Send us a network diagram, the number of remote sections, the PROFIBUS transmission speed, required distance, information about equipment movement, photographs of the environment and the power-supply arrangement for each section. We will recommend the number of transmitters and receivers, Compact or X-TREME versions, antennas and accessories.

PROFIBUS: 3 Sins and 10 Tips
The PROFIBUS industrial bus is highly tolerant and will forgive many faults. But if a critical fault occurs—or several small ones accumulate—you will definitely notice. That’s why this aging industrial network deserves attention. Even if faults on your network are still rare, they will gradually accumulate. What do our technicians recommend? What are their 10 tips for maintaining PROFIBUS?
